Allah ﷻ says in the Holy Qur’an: “who expend their riches in the way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain that grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. And Allah gives manifoldly to whomever He decides; and Allah is Ever-Embracing, Ever-Knowing.” (2:261)
Allah ﷻ also says: “They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend?” Say: “Whatever good you spend should be for the father and mother, the relatives, the orphans, the poor and the indigent travelers. And whatever good you do, truly Allah knows it.”‘ (2:215).
The Prophet ﷺ said, “The shadow of the believer on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity,” (Hadith, Tirmidhi).
Charity is a foundational practice of our religion. It is essential to our purification, both physical and spiritual. Following in the footsteps of the Prophet ﷺ and pious predecessors, Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al-Karkari (May Allah sanctify his secret) and his followers went to great lengths last summer to provide humanitarian aid to Muslim communities in need. These charitable works benefited the needy and the committed followers. On the one hand, it brought communities together and laid the foundation for sustainable growth. On the other hand, for the disciples engaged in these virtuous actions, they served as a process of self-purification and helped them to acquire more compassion and love for humanity.
